Dr. Chikwendu Chris Nwosu, MD
Dr. Nwosu, a board-certified internal medicine physician in Mesa, AZ, brings decades of global medical experience to Stripes Primary Care, which he co-founded with his wife, Dr. Oyoyo Onuoha, in 2011.
Originally from Nigeria, Dr. Nwosu earned his medical degree from the University of Nigeria – Nsukka in 1994. He began his career practicing pediatrics in The Gambia before relocating to London in 1998, where he met and married Dr. Onuoha. Rather than a traditional honeymoon, the couple embarked on a working holiday to Shepparton, Australia, serving together as emergency room physicians for a year.
In 2003, they moved to New York City, where Dr. Nwosu completed his internal medicine residency at Interfaith Medical Center in Brooklyn. He went on to serve in multiple healthcare settings across the U.S., including St. Francis Medical Center in Missouri, Banner Thunderbird Medical Center in Glendale, and Mountain Vista Medical Center in Mesa.
Beyond medicine, Dr. Nwosu is deeply committed to philanthropy. He and Dr. Onuoha co-founded Stripes International Academy, a primary school in his hometown of Ihite-Ude Ofeme, Abia State, Nigeria. He also partnered with his brother to launch a local transport company that eases commutes for rural villagers. Faith is central to his life, and he remains actively involved in churches both in the U.S. and Nigeria.
Dr. Nwosu is known for his compassion, cultural insight, and clinical excellence—values that continue to shape the care offered at Stripes Primary Care. He and Dr. Onuoha are proud parents of five children.
